The Soyuz is considered to be one of the most reliable spacecraft ever designed. It was first introduced in the 60s and has since been updated throughout the years. Since the ending of the Space Shuttle program and until Crew Dragon's first flight, it was the only means to carry astronauts and cosmonauts to the ISS.
